Kim Kardashian meets Jelle Lyle and Eric Menendez amid controversy over Netflix show
Kim Kardashian has reportedly met two brothers currently serving life sentences for the brutal murders of their parents in California 35 years ago. Lyle and Eric Menendez were convicted of shooting Jose and Kitty Menendez multiple times at close range in their mansion in Beverly Hills on August 20, 1989. The brothers were then 21 and 18 years old.
According to US entertainment outlet TMZ, the brothers were among inmates listening to Kardashian talk about prison reforms at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego County.
Both brothers are involved in a project called Greenspace, encouraging prisoners to improve the appearance of prison grounds to help rehabilitate them. His sister Khloe, his mother Kris, and the actor who plays Eric on the Netflix show, Cooper were said to be with Koch.
Last week, the original Eric Menendez criticized the Netflix show, calling it "dishonest" and "inaccurate," citing what he called a "blatant lie" that features his older brother, Lyle.
In a statement shared by Tammy, Eric's wife on X, she said: "I believe we've gone beyond the lying and destructive character portrayal of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies on the show. I can only believe it. They did it on purpose. was done."
He went on to accuse the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, of having "bad intentions" and said the show had set back the cause of male sexual abuse for years. The brothers claimed that they were murdered in self-defense after years of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. The prosecution argued that they killed their parents to get a large inheritance.
Murphy, who created the first series of Monsters about US serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, responded to the comments, saying Eric had not watched the show, and that it was his obligation as the show's creator to portray both sides of the story.
"There were four people involved, two died, what about the parents? We had an obligation as storytellers to try to build their perspective based on our research, which we did."
Speaking to reporters at the series premiere in Los Angeles last week, Cooper Koch said he did a lot of research for the show. The actor who plays Eric said: "I read everything I could. I watched the whole trial. I slept through that trial. So, I fell asleep listening to Eric [Menendez] and Leslie [Hope Abramson - The Lawyer. who saved the brothers] on the stand."
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, stars Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny, Cooper Koch, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and is now streaming on Netflix.
