The biggest power plant in Kyiv was destroyed in the Russian attack
The largest power plant in the Kyiv region of Ukraine was destroyed by a Russian missile attack. The power plant was attacked on Thursday (April 11) morning.
For the past few days, Russian forces have started attacking the infrastructure of Ukraine again. The Trypilska Thermal Power Plant (TPP), Kyiv's largest power plant, was destroyed by a missile fired on Thursday. The missile hit the centre's turbine workshop and caught fire.
However, no casualties were reported in this attack. Apart from this, the power supply is normal in other regions where power goes from the centre including Kyiv.
This power plant was under the power supply company Centrengo. They said in a statement that the centre was destroyed.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's power infrastructure in the war that has lasted more than two years. Russian forces are planning to destroy the country's electricity supply system through this. They are also trying to break the morale of the common people of Ukraine by stopping the electricity service. If the electricity is cut off, ordinary Ukrainians will be deprived of water, gas and other services. Russian forces stopped the attack even when the severe winter was going on in Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale military attack on Ukraine. At that time, the largest Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Europe was captured by Russian forces. 20 per cent of Ukraine's total demand was met from this centre.
