Netanyahu responsible for Iran's attack on Israel: Erdogan
A few days ago, Iran attacked Israeli territory. Iran carried out the attack directly on Israeli territory in retaliation for the deadly attack on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
While many blamed Iran for the retaliatory attack, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan directly blamed Israel for the attack. He said that Iran carried out this attack because of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The news agency AFP reported this information in a report on Tuesday (April 16) night.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was responsible for Iran's first direct attack on Israel, according to reports.
The Turkish president regularly criticizes Israel and the country's leadership. In his televised remarks, he said, "The tension that consumed our hearts on the evening of April 13, is the main responsibility of Netanyahu and his brutal administration."
President ErdoÄŸan said, "Those who have been silent for months about Israel's aggressive attitude have immediately condemned Iran's retaliatory attack." But Netanyahu should be condemned first for this incident.
ErdoÄŸan said that since October 7, the Israeli government has tried to create provocations in various ways to turn the entire region into a coil of fire. The Israeli government attacked the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, in violation of international law and the Vienna Convention, and sparked the Iran-Israel conflict.
After Iran attacked Israel, Türkiye called for "de-escalation" in the Middle East last Sunday. The country also warned that there is a risk of starting a regional war.
It should be noted that in response to the recent attack on the consulate of Tehran in the capital of Syria, Iran attacked Israel with more than three hundred missiles and drones late on Saturday night. Although Israel claims that most drones and missiles have been destroyed before they reach Israeli territory, there is widespread concern that tensions could escalate further.
Tehran announced that it fired more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel overnight, originally in response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1. Most of it is fired from inside Iran.
However, most of the missiles are shot down by Israel, the US and their allies before they reach their targets.
