Iran-Pakistan 80 km gas pipeline work started in Islamabad

Islamabad has started the construction of an 80 km gas pipeline between Pakistan with Iran. On this occasion, Iranian President Ibrahim Raoisi is scheduled to visit Pakistan on April 22. Islamabad is facing a fine of 18 billion dollars for failure to complete this pipeline project.

The project is scheduled to be completed within two years. The cost has been estimated at 4400 crore rupees. The construction of this pipeline started from Gwadar. It will be associated with a part of Iran. The news reported this. In this regard, they quoted a senior official of the Ministry of Energy. He said, Inter-State Gas Company has already issued many delayed tenders.

Front-end engineering design sought from consultants. The United States is strongly opposed to this bilateral project. Because there are sanctions on Iran. The project was supposed to be completed in December 2014.

But it has been delayed by almost a decade. At this time, Pakistan has said that it could not proceed with the project due to the US sanctions on Iran. However, Tehran claims that US sanctions are not the main reason in this case. Finally, in January, Tehran issued a final notice to Islamabad.

The pipeline is expected to be completed in February or March this year. Otherwise 1800 million dollars fine will be paid. Note that the length of the main pipeline is 781 km.
