German police protest in uniform without pants

Police in Germany's southeastern province of Bavaria are frustrated by a long-standing shortage of uniforms. A video released by the State Chapter of the Police Union, a German police union, shows police officers walking around in uniform without pants as a show of frustration.

Frustrated policemen who have been waiting as the stock of uniforms has been empty for a long time have chosen this route to draw the attention of the authorities to their demands.

The video, posted on the State Chapter of the Police Union's YouTube channel and Instagram ID, shows two police officers sitting in a police car asking each other, 'How much longer do you have to wait?' When they got out of the car, they were seen wearing uniforms without pants.

Union chairman Jürgen Kohlein told German state-run Deutsche Welle about the video, highlighting the main problem. "Looking at the video, you might think it's a bad April Fool's joke. But there is nothing to laugh about. The appalling lack of uniforms is a disgrace to police officers.'

"Police in Bavaria are being forced to live half-naked, even without trousers," he said There is a shortage of 21 items of uniform For example: cap, jacket and pants...for many months we have been waiting, But we don't know if they will be available at all.

The state chapter of the police union has called on the Ministry of the Interior of the state of Bavaria to quickly solve this problem. If it requires additional cost, then the union is ready to pay that too. Saying that since 2020 there has been a shortage of good uniforms, which has never been talked about But now getting a uniform has become a big problem.

A Home Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday that they are aware of the problem. He said that this problem has arisen due to disruption in the supply sector. Officials of the ministry said that they will fulfil all the responsibilities of delivering them themselves from now on

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are blaming the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine for this problem. However, they claim that by 2030, a new logistics centre will be built in Bavaria However, regardless of the problems, the Ministry of Home Affairs has called upon the police to continue their duties. Besides, the ministry said, they can perform their duties by wearing alternative clothes for the time being without the minor items of uniform which are not in stock.

However, Germany's union chairman Jürgen still does not see any hope. According to him, it is still uncertain whether the crisis will be resolved or the situation will worsen. What will be the attitude of the recruits when they get civilian clothes instead of uniform after training!'
