Extreme heat: Regular classes cancelled in the Philippines
The Philippines is burning in intense heat and flames. It has become difficult to go out of the house. People are staying at home under the shade of trees for some coolness. In such a situation, the Ministry of Education of the Philippines has given instructions to stop the regular class activities of the school. A notice in this regard has been sent to all schools on Thursday. This was reported by the news agency AFP.
Schools may suspend their regular class activities to avoid unbearable heat waves, the notice said. Authority was given that jurisdiction. The total number of schools in the Philippines is more than 47 thousand. The central education ministry of the country is responsible for the maintenance of these schools.
Most school classrooms do not have air conditioning (AC). As a result, students are suffering a lot while sitting in class in the scorching heat of April. After receiving the notice on Thursday, 4 thousand 769 schools across the country were declared closed that day. Another 5,288 schools were closed on Friday. The authorities of these schools said that the classes will continue online until the temperature reaches a bearable level. Among these closed schools are 300 schools in the capital Manila.
Education Ministry officials said they expect most schools to suspend class activities within the next seven days. Temperatures in most provinces, including Manila, the capital of the Philippines, have been fluctuating between 42 degrees and 45 degrees Celsius for almost a week. Mayeti Paulino, a school teacher in Manila, said, "I am saddened to see the condition of the students." Let's look at the class - almost everyone has become dull due to heat exhaustion. Even my most agile students are often not in a position to answer questions.
