DON'T BUY I'M A VET... THERE ARE FIVE DOG BREEDS I WILL NEVER BUY - THEY WILL GET YOU IN TROUBLE
A dog expert uncovers five breeds you should never own if you want an easy life.
Australian veterinarian Dr If you're a 'couch potato', it's best to stick with similar low-energy pets and avoid those that are too demanding on your time, says Scott Miller (48).
Dr Scott Miller says 'couch potatoes' should similarly stick with low-energy pets
The Down Under dog expert told The Sun that cocker spaniels in particular "are not a breed you'd get if you weren't keen on exercise".
He said, 'They have to walk for one and a half to two hours every day, so they need a lot of exercise in the morning and at night.
He said they are "fast-paced" and great with "obedience training" and agility.
Dr Border collies are "the same," Miller said.
"They didn't get bored, and they still don't, and they're an energetic breed.
Another high-energy breed, border terriers, are extremely "stubborn" and love to investigate, explore and "jump about," she said.
"They're very busy. I think they need a lot of environmental enrichment, things to stimulate them, things to chew on.
"They can be very naughty if not excited enough and not exercised enough. I know that from experience.
Dr. They are a 'brilliant' species, says Miller, but "they need what they need and you have to come to the party".
Breeds that require a lot of exercise or training also include Jack Russells and German Shepherds.
"You've got to stimulate their bodies as well as their minds, get the balance right," says Miller.
This comes after he outlined how not to own a flat-nosed dog because it will cost you more in insurance premiums if you have expensive vet visits.
