41 people died in lightning-heavy rain in Pakistan
At least 41 people have died due to heavy rains and lightning in the past few days due to the impact of the cyclone in Pakistan. 28 of them died due to lightning. This loss of life occurred in different areas of Pakistan since last Friday. Officials of the country gave this information on Monday.
Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a landslide and flood alert in anticipation of heavy rains.
The highest number of casualties occurred in Pakistan's Punjab province. Between last Friday and Saturday, 21 people died due to lightning. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, 'I have asked the disaster management authorities to work in coordination with the provinces.... Apart from this, I have asked them to distribute relief materials to the affected areas.
People in rural areas living under open sky are at risk of damage during lightning. At least eight people have also died in Balochistan province. Seven of them lost their lives due to lightning.
Meanwhile, at least 25 districts have been affected by the rain. Flooding has occurred in some areas. Schools in the affected provinces have been ordered to remain closed till Tuesday, though schools are scheduled to open after the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.
Apart from this, four people were killed in an accident on a flooded road in the southern province of Sindh. Eight more people were killed when buildings collapsed due to heavy rain in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They have four children.
