Artificial intelligence, 8 million jobs in the UK at risk

Women, young people and low-wage workers are most at

risk from artificial intelligence or automation.

Artificial intelligence (AI) could put 8 million people in the UK at risk of losing their jobs. This information has been reported in a recent report by a research organization called the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) in the United Kingdom. According to the report, women, young people and low-paid workers are most at risk from artificial intelligence or automation.

According to the IPPR report, entry-level jobs, part-time jobs and administrative jobs will be more at risk from the use of artificial intelligence. Such a bad situation will arise when the new technology starts to be used in three to five years.

A UK research firm has warned that their country is facing a moment where the number of organizations adopting artificial intelligence programs is increasing. Such programs can generate messages, information, and software code. It can automate many of the daily tasks of the workplace.

According to the IPPR report, the first wave of AI adoption has arrived. Many jobs are already at risk. Because many companies have started using AI. A second wave is imminent when AI technology improves further. This will increase the rate of automatic program launches by the organizations. As a result, many more jobs will be at risk.

The IPPR researches 22,000 jobs in various fields. It has been found that 11 per cent of the jobs the workers are doing are at risk. 59 per cent of jobs could be at risk when the second wave of AI adoption arrives.

Currently, many tasks like database management, operations management and warehousing are at risk. With this, secretarial work, administration and various customer service jobs are at risk.

When the second wave of AI adoption comes, jobs like creating databases, copywriting, and creating graphics will also be at risk. It will also affect higher-paid workers.

According to IPPR data, the adoption of AI will have a greater impact on women's lives. Many are involved in secretarial and administrative work. But AI will create risks for them.
